EFFECT OF BENZYLADENIN (BA), SILVER THIOSULFATE (STS) AND ETHREL ON ORGANOGENESIS IN PROTOCORM-LIKE BODY (PLB) CULTURES OF HYBRID Cymbidium
Benzyladenin (BA) is commonly used plant growth regulator for Cymbidium (Orchidaceae) micropopagation. Application of Ethephon promoted rhizome formation from shoot cultures of terrestrial Cymbidium kanran. However, effect of silver thiosulfate (STS) and Ehtrel under BA influence on epiphytic Cymbidium are not understood. For that reason this study is checking effects of STS and Ethrel under influence of BA treatment. The maximum rate of Protocorm-like bodies (PLBs) formation was found (100%) in treatments of 0.1 mg/l BA + 0.01 mg/l STS and 1.0 mg/l BA + 0.1 mg/l STS in treatments with modified MS medium. The maximum shoot formation rate 63% at control treatment, while the lowest shoot formation rate was 20% whereas STS 0.01mg/l. This study concludes that the combination of STS and BA on PLB formation was assessed with the expectation of increasing of PLB formation, whereas the combination of BA and Ethrel on PLB formation was lower than combination of BA and STS.
