VERMICOMPOST AND MUSTARD OIL CAKE AS AN ALTERNATIVE FERTILIZER FOR STRAWBERRY PRODUCTION
Organic fertilizer is a good alternative source of organic substrate may have important effects on the microbial properties of the growth and yield of strawberry. The field study was carried out at Horticulture Farm, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, and Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period from May 2014 to April 2015, to investigate the performance of organic fertilizers in growth and yield of strawberry as an alternative source. The experiment was consisted with three levels of organic fertilizers, i.e.,O0: Control, Over: Vermicompost and Omoc, Mustard oil cake. The two factorial experiments were laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications. Organic fertilizers influenced significantly on most of the parameters. Among organic fertilizers, maximum number of runner (5.9), maximum number of fruits (26.9/plant), single fruit weight (14.3g), fruit weight (383.7g/plant), brix (7.8%) and yield (11.0 t/ha) was observed in Over whereas the minimum in O0. So it can be concluded that foliar application of vermicompost is the effective source for growth and yield of strawberry.
