BAUL’S THOUGHT ABOUT LIFE: A STUDY AT KUSHTIA

The aim of this study is to know the thoughts of the Bauls about life. Survey methods and in-depth interviews have been carried out to fulfill the objectives of this study. A structured questionnaire was used to survey 20 Bauls at Lalon Akhra, Kumarkhali in Kushtia district, and four of them were interviewed. The researcher of this study combined the aspects of quantitative and qualitative methods within the stages of data collection and data analysis. The quantitative data collection consisted of the completion of a questionnaire. The qualitative data was collected through in-depth interviews. The qualitative data was compared with the quantitative data in search of patterns of agreement and disagreement. The results of the comparison were presented systematically. The quantitative data of this study have been presented using tables. Then, the presented quantitative data in the tables has been analyzed. Through the analysis of quantitative data, a statistical result has been developed. Then, the statistical result has been followed by qualitative data. The information derived from the interviews (e.g. individual) was analyzed qualitatively by attempting to find themes and patterns. The qualitative data of this study have been presented descriptively and analyzed for developing final results. The study has detected that the thought of the Bauls is not similar to the thought of the common people.
