CARBON TRADING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH WIND POWER PROJECT IN BANGLADESH

Bangladesh is a developing nation which economy is growing fast along with its electricity demand. Although the country has been blessed with renewable energy sources like solar, wind and biomass, the exploration of the technologies for electricity production has not been started significantly .The progress of the renewable sectors depends on the profitability of the project. There is no grid connected renewable power project available in Bangladesh. Only off-grid solar home system (SHS) is running successfully. Indian renewable power project technological costs were considered for making assumptions for case study to identify whether the renewable energy projects in Bangladesh will be profitable or not. The cost-benefit analysis results indicate that wind power project would be about profitable within the existing rules and regulations of Bangladesh.
