COMPARATIVE STUDY OF INUNDATION LAND TYPE AND LAND USE IN DHAMRAI UPAZILA

The
study was conducted to assess the changes of inundation land type as well as
land use of Dhamrai upazila under the agro ecological region of Young
Brahmaputra Jamuna Floodplain (AEZ 8). The comparison was made between the land
type and land use of 2002 and those of 2017. The study showed that high land, medium high land as well as
Miscellaneous land area increased by 1.41%, 0.79% and 8.25% respectively as
compared to 2002. Double crop and triple cropped area also increased significantly. The cropping
patterns having deep water rice, broadcast aus and broadcast aman have already
been extinct. Mustard-Boro-T. Aman covered 11.39% of the total land area
followed by Boro-Fallow-
transplanted Aman (10.77%). On the other hand, Rabi crops-Aus/jute-T. Aman
cropping pattern has decreased from 14.55% to 5.97% during the study period.
