DEVELOPMENT OF CROPPING PATTERN POTATO-JUTE VEGETABLE- JUTE – T. AMAN AGAINST POTATO-JUTE –T. AMAN CROPPING PATTERN

The experiment was conducted in the jute research regional station, Rangpur during 2013-14 to study the productivity, production efficiency, land use efficiency and economic return of the improved cropping pattern (Potato-Jute vegetable-Jute-T. Aman) against the existing cropping pattern (Potato-Jute- T. Aman) through incorporating of modern crop varieties and improved management practices. Two treatments were used in this experiment viz., T1= Existing cropping pattern Potato-Jute-T. Aman rice and T2= Alternate cropping pattern Potato-Jute vegetable-Jute-T. aman. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with six replications. The data of improved management practice for the pattern produced significantly higher yield in Potato and T. aman and also gave additional jute vegetable yield. The gross return and gross margin were higher in improved pattern compared to that of existing pattern. Gross return as well as gross margin were higher (Tk 38000 ha-1 and Tk 27058 ha-1, respectively) in improved pattern over existing pattern.
