A field experiment was carried out in Old Brahmaputra Floodplain soil at the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Farm, Mymensingh during the period from February to June 2008 to evaluate effect of different level of sulphur on the growth and yield of BRRI dhan 29. The experiment was designed with eight (8) treatments and laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three (3) replications of each treatment. Sulphur @ 10 kg ha‑1 was applied as per treatments respectively. The treatments used in the experiment were T1: without S, T2: 40% RFD of S, T3: 60% RFD of S, T4: 80% RFD of S, T5: 100% RFD of S, T6: 120% RFD of S, T7: 140% RFD of S and T8: 160% RFD of S. The crop was harvested at maturity on 04, June, 2008. All yield contributing characters like plant height; effective tillers hill-1, panicle length, filled grains panicle-1 except 1000-grain weight of BRRI dhan 29 significantly responded to different levels of applied S and varied 78.63 to 98.51 cm, 8.93 to 12.33, 22.10 to 26.34 cm, 101.9 to 130.0, 3.70 to 5.22 t ha-1, 4.68 to 6.87 t ha-1 and 8.387 to 12.10 t ha-1, respectively. From the above study it can be summarized that BRRI dhan 29 responded to the application of higher levels up to 160% of the recommended dose of sulphur.
