The study aimed at determining and describing the characteristics of the house owners, to determine the extent of practicing RTG by house owners of Dhaka city, and to identify the determinants influencing house owners’ decision for gardening on their rooftop. The study was conducted at Mohammadpur (Ward no. 44) and Tejgaon (Ward no. 40) thana of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Data were collected from randomly selected 106 house owners by using a personal pre-tested interview schedule during the period of 21st January to 22nd February 2019. More than half of house owners (58.80%) did not use their rooftop for gardening while 41.20% used for gardening. The binary logistic regression analysis showed that the influential variables, viz., rooftop area, media contact, and knowledge were significant contributors to using rooftop for gardening. It is recommended that the Bangladesh Government and NGOs should take necessary steps to increase the use of rooftops for gardening considering the above significant contributors.
