ILLUSION OF GENDER PARITY AND EQUITY OF FEMALE STUDENTS AT THE TERTIARY LEVEL IN BANGLADESH

The illusion of gender parity and equity of female students at the tertiary level education system is an important issue as equality in every sector between boys and girls, males and females, men, and women are pre-requisite for building a sustainable world. Many countries of the world have already achieved parity at several levels of education sectors between boys and girls or males and females. But in Bangladesh, the illusion of gender parity and female students’ equity at the tertiary level has become an important issue. This study made an investigation on the illusion of gender parity and female students’ equity at the tertiary level in the context of Bangladesh. This study is based on a mixed-method research approach (Quantitative and qualitative). Female students and teachers were the participants in this study. Quantitative data of this study were collected through a survey questionnaire and qualitative data were collected through face-to-face to face interviews. Collected information on the issue of this study was analyzed by applying various statistical techniques like univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis, and descriptive techniques. The illusion of gender parity and female students’ equity at tertiary level education in Bangladesh were explored and presented using relevant descriptive statistics, box plots, bar charts, line graphs, and pie charts. Furthermore, multiple comparison test results were presented in tables to realize the variation of the illusion of gender parity and female students’ equity at the tertiary level in Bangladesh.
