INFLUENCE OF CUTTING POSITION AND ROOTING HORMONES ON ROOTING OF STEVIA (Stevia rebaudiana) STEM CUTTING

A
pot experiment was accomplished at the Horticultural farm, Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University from July 2018 to September 2018 to evaluate the
performance of different cutting position and hormone on propagation of stevia.
Cutting position: Apical cutting (T), Middle cutting (M), Basal cutting (B) and
Hormone: No hormone (C), Rooting aid (R), IBA (I) were used as treatment with
Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. Apical cutting
showed higher survive rate (90.9%), rooting percentage (73.0), sprouting rate
(77.6%), root number (13.9) and root length (4.4cm) and IBA gave better
performance to survive percentage (91.2), sprouting rate (73.9%), sprouting
rate (73.9%), root number (15.1) and root length (5.5cm). Maximum survive rate
(98.0%) and root number (17.3) found in (TI). In view of overall
performance, apical cutting position with IBA has potentiality to stevia
propagation.
