MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF TWENTY TWO POTATO GERMPLASM

This experiment was to establish the morphological basis for the classification of twenty two potato germplasm at Horticultural farm in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University during the period of October 2014 to March 2015. Observation was done using qualitative traits in different growth stages from sprouting to final harvest. Most of germplasm showed oval to long oval shape in tubers among twenty two potato germplasm. Tuber skin and flesh color were also observed in this study. UPOV guidelines have been taken into consideration to sort out germplasm which could have been a baseline research to characterize all potato germplasm available in Bangladesh.
