PERFORMANCE OF DRIP IRRIGATION ON THE YIELD OF MALTA IN THE CHITTAGONG HILL TRACTS OF BANGLADESH

A field study was conducted in the experimental field of HARS, Khagrachari campus during 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 to investigate the feasibility of drip irrigation compared to farmers practice for Malta during dry season. The variety was BARI Malta 1 and age of the plant was 6 years. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The overall results indicated that irrigation applied for 2 consecutive days with next 3 days interval showed better performance in all aspects like yield (31.69 kg/plant), fruit retention (71.77%), profitability (BCR=1.95 for two years average).
