SCREENING ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF Ni(II) CYSTINE COMPLEX AGAINST PATHOGENIC BACTERIA

The effect of nickel complex containing with cystine against some pathogenic
bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis,
Salmonella typhi, Shigelladysenteriae, Shigellaflexneriae,
Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus-b-haemolyticus.
The antibacterial activity of Ni(II) cystinecomplex was established too. Disc diffusion methods were
used and two types disc were used like Sample discs Ni(II) complex
and Standard discs (Kanamycin). Among the discs Ni(II) cystine complex had antibacterial
activity. At the dose of 100 mg/disc the Ni(II) cystine complex showed little
diameter to zone
of inhibition within the range of 5-15mm. On the other hand, kanamycin showed
the diameter of zone of inhibition within the range of 17-25 mm at the dose of
30mg/disc. The dose of 200 mg/disc
of Ni(II) cystine complex showed the diameter of zone of inhibition within the
range of 9-20 mm which was quite comparable with kanamycin and were showed
moderate sensitivity than kanamycin.
