SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS AND RELATED PERSPECTIVES OF GARMENT WORKERS IN BANGLADESH

An investigation survey was carried out in three different garment factories at Dhaka city in Bangladesh during April 2017 to June 2017. Samples of 60 garment workers were interviewed through observation and well structured questionnaire for data collection. Four types of issues, eg., profile of respondents, working hours and salary, health care and sanitation opportunity, and employer behavior towards employees were inquired to measure the socio-economic status and related perspectives of garments workers in Bangladesh. This study revealed that the salary of garment workers was stay in precarious condition and they are not free from the vicious circle of poverty and face extreme difficulties in obtaining their basic needs for survival even. This research suggested for improving the prevailing socio-economic facilities, to an enormous level, to achieve garment workers’ satisfaction at the maximum level.
