SOCIODEMOGRAPHIC AND ORGANIZATIONAL DETERMINANTS OF JOB SATISFACTION IN KHULNA CITY OF BANGLADESH

This
study attempts to identify the sociodemographic and organizational determinants
of job satisfaction among the employees working in different public/private
organizations in Khulna city of Bangladesh. A total of 323 respondents from Khulna city were selected through
simple random sampling and surveyed using a semi-structured questionnaire during the period of July
2018 to August 2018. The relationship
of job satisfaction with sociodemographic and work related factors were examined through bivariate analyses
(Chi-square tests) to explore possible link between job satisfaction and the
selected variables. Results indicate that among the sociodemographic characteristics, respondents’ age, education,
number of family members, length of service, nature of job, salary, affiliation
with present organization and current designation were significantly associated
with the level of job satisfaction (p<0.01). On the other hand, satisfaction
with salary, work condition, promotion, work load, fringe benefits, work
responsibilities, self-esteem, relationship with supervisor/head and job
prospect were found to be linked with job satisfaction among the work related
factors (p<0.01).
