STUDY ON GROWTH, FLOWERING AND SEED PRODUCTION OF EIGHT NANDINI (Eustoma grandiflorum) VARIETIES

A new study was conducted at roof top net house, Department of Horticulture, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, under 2a biotech lab, 2014 to October, 2014. Eight varieties of Nandini (Eustoma grandiflorum) namely, V1, Mickey rose; V2, Pink rose (single); V3, Pink picotee; V4, Blue rim; V5, Chandra; V6, Pink rose (double); V7, Blue bell and V8, Royal violet were used in this experiment. Growth and yield characters were showed significant variation among all varieties. Highest chlorophyll percentage and leaf area were observed in Chandra. Chandra produced maximum number of flower and also showed higher percentage of seed germination, but maximum amount of seeds were produced with Pinky rose (double).
