STUDY ON MORPHO-PHYSIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SIX PAPAYA LINES

A field study was conducted at Horticultural Farm in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, from August 2014 to December 2014 to evaluate the morpho-physiological characteristic on six papaya lines. Six lines were L₁, Line-1; L₂, Line-2; L₃, Line-3; L₄, Line-4; L₅, Line-5; L₆, Line-6 and showed significant variation among the lines. Plant height, leaf number, female flower, hermaphrodite flower, fruits number, single fruit weight, length of fruit and diameter of fruit were found best in Line-3 (L₃). Maximum number of female (24.3) and number of hermaphrodite (6.6) flower and yield per plant (41.1 kg) respectively were documented in Line-3, where as minimum in Line-6 in both characters respectively. Line-4 showed highest number of male flower.
