A research experiment was conducted at Jute Research Regional Station of Bangladesh Jute ResearchInstitute (BJRI), Rangpur during the period from April to August, 2018 in order to know the varietalperformance of some jute varieties. Ten jute varieties viz. BJRI Tossa pat-3 (V1), BJRI Tossa pat-4(V2), BJRI Tossa pat-5(V3), BJRI Tossa pat-6(V4), BJRI Tossa pat-7(V5), BJRI Tossa pat-8(V6), O-4(V7), O-5(V8), O-753 (V9) and O-632(V10) was used as experimental crops. The experimental field was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Varietals performances of jute were showed statistically significant variation among the studied whole growth, yield and yield attributing traits. Among tested varieties, the jute variety BJRI Tossa pat-8(V6) produced maximum number of plant/m2 (41.07), the tallest plant (3.65m), maximum base diameter (14.87mm) and largest leaf area(42.68cm2) at harvest. In contrast, the minimum percent incidence of disease (63.48%) and insect (50.15%)were occurred on BJRI Tossa pat-8. Furthermore, the jute variety BJRI Tossa pat-8 had also showed greater results on various yield characters viz. green weight with leaves (79.42 t/ha), green weight without leaves (67.93 t/ha), fibre weight (11.92 g/plant), fibre weight (4.97 t/ha), stick weight (25.30 g/plant) and stick weight (10.57 t/ha). Thus, the jute variety BJRI Tossa pat-8 gave understanding superiority on growth, yield and yield contributing traits as well as their sustainable. Therefore, jute variety BJRI Tossapat-8 could be more successful productive variety compares to the other tested varieties in the regional condition in Bangladesh.
